It's easy to read and presents the body in a smart detailed way in how the body functions. One does see what a miraculous "invention" the body truly is and the manner that it functions or should. Dr LaFleur uses funny analogies to explain how the body works. Tons of experiments help reinforce learning by *doing* in addition to reading. Most of the experiments use stuff you already have around the house so there isn’t a requirement to plan ahead. This book makes a great gift for kids who are curious how our bodies work. It is wonderfully written and engaging. My kids are constantly coming up to me saying mom “did you know xyz?!” It’s really exciting as a parent to see your kids enjoy learning about the way their bodies work! It would be great to have these types of facts alongside our medical school lectures (why are we half an inch taller in the morning)! The creative activities and exercises are sure to foster interest in all the systems of the human body, with different things that would appeal to different kids, from making recipes to cool crafts to physical exercises and experiments. The explanations of topics are clear and accessible. This provides wonderful inspiration for learning through hands-on activities. I can especially see this making kids grow a new interest in science, or advancing their knowledge for those who love science. I wish I had this as a kid! The book did not disappoint! The writing is engaging and fun, and we already have a weekend of experiments planned out. I bought this for him because he loves sharing random facts daily (something he learns from school or his own 'research'). Another bonus is that his little five-year-old brother also wants me to read him this book and do experiments with his big brother. This has been a good way to learn science from home and spend some time away from electronic devices. The book is well-written with awesome illustrations.
